An early morning departure (approximately 8:15 am, but check-in at 7:30 am) from the Reef Fleet Terminal allows you to soak up the glory of a Cairns morning as you make your way out to the dive sites. This is large modern reef vessel that has been fitted with state of the art computerised stabilisers, which ensures your super-fast journey is a comfortable one.
Both of the exclusive and secluded Outer Reef dive sites you will visit are bursting with sea life, colourful corals and crystal clear water and are chosen for their clarity and suitability on the day. Chosen for their amazing bottom contours, these locations are the perfect example of the Great Barrier Reef’s wondrous beauty. Both locations are suitable for people of all ages and levels of experience. If you’re a complete beginner, you may opt for the introductory diving, which is designed for first time snorkelers and is guided by professional and friendly staff who want to share the joy of snorkelling with you. You will be taught the basics of using your snorkelling equipment (which is provided for free), safety techniques and how to get the most out of your dive. If needed, you can avail of the buoyancy aids provided, such as wetsuits, foam noodles and life jackets.
Once you’re feeling more confident, you can join a guided snorkelling tour through the labyrinth of colours below the warm, inviting waves. You can also try your hand at scuba diving, with a free introductory lesson! If you don’t want to get wet, you can hop aboard the ‘Sub-Xplorer’ semi-submersible and take in the wonders of the reef through the viewing panels. You can even feed the fish as you learn about the Reef from the informative commentary provided.
If you’re feeling peckish, you can enjoy the complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits, wine, cheese and fruit platter, or wait for lunch – a delicious Aussie BBQ consisting of your choice of steak, sausages, vegetarian options, tropical salads or pastas. At the end of your memorable and exciting day, you’ll head back to the Reef Fleet Terminal, arriving at approximately 4:30 pm.
